After a slow start Hornsea have hit their stride in this season’s Humber Premier League, although their 3 match winning run was brought to an end with a narrow 3-4 defeat to near rivals LIV Supplies. They are now sixth in the table.
Tuesday 28th August. Beverley Town 5 - 1 Hornsea Town
(Alex Sherwood)
The Seasiders were down to 10 men within 20 minutes and 2-0 down at half-time. The ten men continued to put in a real shift and their spirited efforts almost looked to offer a way back into the game after pulling it back to 2-1 in the second half. A quick lapse cost the side a 3rd goal and with ten men the task was always going to be difficult.
Saturday 1st September: Hornsea Town 5 - 2 Hedon Rangers (Leighton Matthewson, Chris Walker, Trevor Brooks x2, Ash Grayston)
After successive Saturdays conceding last minute equalisers in the two previous weeks, Hornsea managed to put this one to bed despite a slight scare.
The Seasiders held a 3-0 lead and a combative Hedon did manage to pull that back to 3-2 in the second half. This gave cause for concern after recent happenings but with substitutes available this week being the key difference from the Sculcoates game, Hornsea were able to kick on and claim the 3 points that have been a long time coming.
Saturday 8th September. South Cave Utd 1 - 4 Hornsea Town (Ryan Silvestri x3 Simon Taylor)
The lion’s share of the play went to Town and in truth the scoreline could have been much more with many missed chances from the Seasiders throughout the game.
A second hat-trick of the season for Ryan Silvestri and a tidy long-range finish from Simon Taylor ensured victory was comfortable.
Saturday 15th September. Hornsea Town 3 - 1 Westella and Willerby

  • Lewis Wombwell- Ryan Silvestri - Adam Yorke
As the famous old saying goes, “the most important game is the one that you’re playing in” and Town continued to stick by that as they hosted a combative Westella and Willerby side, looking to make it 3 wins on the bounce.
The lads did just that in dominating fashion, though it wasn’t quite the easy day at the office it could’ve been. Town missed a first half penalty and a number of clear-cut chances which could have put the game to bed early doors whilst the opposition were ‘clawing at scraps’ looking to find their way into the game. Half time, 0-0. The Seasiders looked as if they would pay for their missed chances as they fell 1-0 on the hour mark only for Lewis Wombwell to grab his first goal for the club soon after then play a big part in Ryan Silvestri and Adam Yorke goals to give Hornsea 3 wins in their last 3.
Saturday 22nd September Hornsea Town 3 LIV Supplies 4- Leighton Matthewson x2- Lewis Wombwell
Town fell to a cruel injury time goal against LIV Supplies to suffer a first home defeat of the season and first loss in 4.
The Seasiders led for much of the game and looked comfortable for an hour, scoring three and having many more chances that should have put the game to bed whilst claiming the side four wins on the bounce. With the score at 3-1 to Hornsea mid-way through the second half, a mix up in communication allowed for LIV to find their way back into the game, and from there Hornsea never really recovered.
In the final 30 minutes of the game the opposition piled on the pressure and as they fought back to 3-3, Town felt they’d thrown away 2 points until disaster struck with one of the final kicks of the game snatching the winner for LIV.
